"illegal war of aggression, not backed by the UN, or most of the world"

Just curious, where does authority come from? The UN? Consensus of 'most of the world'?

If the UN (never mind that Resolution 1441 was passed) approved this campaign to get rid of this wicked man in Iraq, or if 'most of the world' thought this was a good idea, would we then have authority to prosecute this campaign that threatens our national security? Would that be a reason then NOT to protest? We would likely be taking the very same actions that we are now, but justified by the world?

Since when did our US Constitution become subordinate to World opinion? Just curious. I must have missed that somewhere - it's been a long time since I've been in a US Government class.
