Driving by anticipating will save you a lot of gas. Looking well ahead at traffic lights. On highway look at brake lights of vehicles in front of you. If they are braking on corners slow down by taking foot off gas so you can take the corner without braking. That's the secret , drive as if you had no brakes. I just took my Subaru in for service, 52,000 km, they tell me rear brakes are 60% worn and front 40% or vice versa.

BTW re Irony I have this quote

"My mother never saw the irony in calling me a son-of-a-bitch."--Jack Nicholson
