Co-ordination centre to be established in Silope to deal with communications between Turkish and US forces in Northern Iraq.

March 27— More US aircraft are leaving the Turkish base in the south of the country, where they were engaged on patrolling the exclusion zone over Northern Iraq before the war.

The aircraft, which operated as part of Operation Northern
Watch based at the Incirlik facility near Adana, are being transferred from Turkey after it was decided that, as a result of the war, they were no longer required. Turkey refused a US request for the aircraft stationed at Incirlik to take part in any offensive operations in the current war in Iraq.
Meanwhile, it has been reported that a co-ordination unit centre will be set up in the south eastern Turkish city of Silopi to deal with any difficulties that may arise between Turkish forces and US troops and their Iraqi Kurdish allies in the region.
On Wednesday, the Chief of the Turkish General Staff, General Hilmi Özkok, said that any deployment of Turkish troops in Northern Iraq would be co-ordinated with the US.<<
