marcos:

After a few weeks away and reading over 1,000 posts on this (always excellent) thread, the following post of yours from March 15th struck me as really prophetic. Thanks. Howy
================================
<< This is completely unlike 1991 in every way, save the names of two nations involved, the surnames of their leaders ... other than those it's quite distinct - 1991 was about removing iraqui troops from Kuwait, a sovereign nation had been invaded and now the invader was getting pushed out .... the fighting part of the 'war' was quite small really, most US casualties resulted from internal accidents, and the majority of overall casualties were nothing but slaughter from the air, such as the troops mowed down on that highway to Basra two days after their beginning full retreat .... the whole thing was over quite quickly, war of inspectors and words follows, nobody invaded, nobody occupied .. not so this time, when the story promises to get more active, not less, as time goes on -

This time the US is the invader, with plans to emplace itself in Baghdad, to set up camp for an indefinite period in a sovereign arab muslim nation .... this time the US doesn't have the allies it had in 1991, for the sharing of subsequent responsibilities, because of the way its current leaders have been shaking their fists at the rest of us on this planet ..... and you look at the neighbours there - Iran, Syria, Wahhabistan, hills full of martial hill people to the north - that is injun country ... the sort of place that is a lot easier to invade than it is to hold under military occupation .... the sort of place where if you had to go, you'd do better to rally first some friends to go with you ... but no, the younger Bush and crew have a doctrine that the US does all the deciding for everybody else, with predictable results formed in the attitude of everybody else

They read the bible, it is said, well they should read this part again, Proverbs 16:18-19

Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.
Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud. >>
