Al you have pointed me to this misbegotten "teacher" before.

Before reading my opening statement there will be many who will find fault with this paper. "What parable?" they will ask. Contrary to all the Scriptural proof that Luke 16:19-31 is indeed a classic example of a parable, there are many who deny this fact.

There are many who deny this fact?
I do not know of even one yet this man says there are many.

The reason for so many desiring to take this parable literally is an attempt to add credence to the heretical teaching that God Almighty is going to torture the vast majority of all humanity who has ever lived by burning their flesh with real fire in a hellhole of insane pain for all eternity.

Now this fellow tells us WHY the MANY do this - it is to add credence to their "heretical views"

If the belief in a place called hell where people are tormented - was only an imaginary place - dreamed up by the Jews

WHY WOULD CHRIST EVEN USE SUCH A LIE IN EVEN A PARABLE?

But even if we take this parable literally, it still does not support such an absurd and evil teaching.

ALAN - do you know the difference between an assertion and a proof?
This guy has ASSERTED that this is:

an INSANE teaching
a HERETICAL TEACHING

When the truth is seen, the Rich man is overcome with great emotional torment by whatever "this flame" represents, but he is not physically being burned or barbecued in this flame

Emotional torment?

"this flame" he claims is not literal - another assertion without proof

Alan - why would it be nothing more than a 'figurative' flame when other very real characteristics are described by Christ:

"dogs came and licked his sores"
Were this sores also only emotional scars??

"even the dogs came and licked his sores"

So then the "dogs" are gentiles who comfort his "emotional sores" ?

"being in torments"

Nothing more than a bad case of regret eh?

"dip the tip of his finger in water"

What does that represent - sending in a shrink?

"cool my tongue"

Does that mean - quiet my conscience?

Alan - please do not ask me to read any more of this heretics thoughts.

L. Ray Smith is a full blown false teacher.

Do not use him to justify your illusions of what scripture teaches.
