Your population projection figures are more accurate BTW.

It's certainly possible to put a billion people into the US... just not at the current food mix, level of self sufficiency, or lifestyle probably. There are 1 billion people living in India and a larger number in a similar sized area of Eastern China, in each case in under half the area of the lower 48 states.
