Good thread, Miles. What about the notion of y2k as an X-ray into business practices -- specifically, the deaf ear that resource allocators turn to the technical sector? We look at this as a frustrating hindrance, Dilbert-style, but the lack of imagination for the technical complexity of this problem is frightening.

I believe a sea-change must include a layer of "middle-doc" that can drive the y2k point home, and be used as a bridge between tech and mgmt, and between mgmt. and money. This normally would include detailed reports of large completed projects, but I wonder if any large projects are even close to completion...
