Beiruit, Lebanon -- According to LSN sources, guerillas from the Hezbollah movement are entering Iraq to wage jihad against the United States and Britain. Hezbollah, which defeated the Israeli Army in a nearly two decade long war in Lebanon, is a trained guerilla force, unlike the current unorganized Iraqi resistance, which consists of the Fedayeen, who, despite their dedication, are not experienced insurgents, and armed civilans. The presence of a guerilla force that is used to destroying latest-generation tanks and fighting against an enemy with overwhelming air superiority may significantly increase the strength of the Iraqi civilian resistance over the next few days.
Reports indicate that the guerillas are traveling through Syria, and that the Syrian government is remaining comfortably unaware of their movements, having opened its borders to allow the free exchange of people in and out.
The US has threatened war with Syria if it continues to leave its border open, but there is no evidence that the US has the ability to prosecute such a war. The US would have to attack through Lebanon, which it was driven out of in the early 1980s, and would likely need the cooperation of Israel. As Israel is a Jewish nation, it is unlikely to want to do its own dirty work, though Sharon is said to be anxious for a larger, apocalyptic war in the region.
