Try as the neo-cons or the realists may do, they will not be able to succeed. The only solution is to work towards establishing international bodies that in effect create a global federation of states. True union will be a long time away, but there is no reason why we cannot accelerate its creation. That cannot be done so long as there are those who believe selfish and conceited behavior in the name self-interest is a viable policy.

Sun Tzu

My goodness Sun Tzu! I bow to the superior optimist. <g>

I assume you would agree that not even the convicted Warlord would consider his/her "self-interest" as being supported by "selfish and conceited" policies. They are so supported of course. But only in the minds of the Warlord's enemies, never in his own thoughts and perceptions.

In that regard the Warlord is no different from any other Human. We are all self-centered and conceited, and given the choice we will in fact conduct ourselves in that manner.

Slowly but surely every nation has replaced this plunder and pillage attitude in their country with the rule of law.

If by "plunder and pillage" you mean getting what you want when you want it, I just don't see any change in the nature of humanity at least since at least 500 B.C. <g>

And I can assure you, with absolutely NO fear of contradiction whatever, that this notion of "the rule of law" is a complete and utter fiction. Not unlike your "faith" in the value of that "green paper" you use to buy groceries, it is a perception hanging by a very slim thread. <Hoo>
