Wages from stats i think are too low but all I have to go on.
The mean for CA was $37,708 for 2002 roughly
5.5% of the working populous are drawing over $85,000 using these stats as my guideline.

The stats and housing affordabilty are not agreeing there is a lose connection somewhere i hope.

>Housing affordability falls two points in January to 29 percent
The minimum household income needed to purchase a median-priced home at $336,740 in California in January was $79,820, based on a typical 30-year, fixed-rate mortgage at 5.96 percent and assuming a 20 percent downpayment.

The reality is although figures are not showing inflation wars are costly so we are rather caught here in inflationary conditions that we have no control over. It is one thing to reduce costs of government but we can't reduce the costs of this particular period which includes external aggression as well as internal protection hence unknown budget figures..

Where your system is stating that gold has run it is course my mind is asking me which dollar? As I try to recall a similar period i come up with the seventies where property as today was rising though low interest rates were not as low.
During that period the laws were changing to allow business to operate more freely and I am basically speaking of innovation in accounting practices. However the changes in the laws now are tending towards restriction and it is no longer how can we use the law to our benefit to go public.

The trend now appears to be how can we legally stretch our finances enough to buy a house. That to me at least does not sum up to a plus for the economy.

What the stats are showing is two income earners probable growth in the restaurant and child care business but both are very low scale pay.
