I, more than ever, think the Bush war plan was ill conceived and poorly timed.

Well, you're certainly entitled to that opinion. I think Rumsfeld addressed this question perfectly yesterday -- he said the plan was reviewed and re-reviewed by every relevant military person at the Pentagon, and every last one of them signed off on it.

Frankly, I would have to question whether YOUR judgment on the matter would be on the level of these people.

The quality of the war plan will be determined when the war is over. I like what I've seen -- thus far, we've taken relatively few casualties and inflicted massive casualties on the enemy -- probably tens of thousands. The name of the game is killing the enemy, and so far, we're doing a pretty good job of it.

We've lost a few in the process, no doubt will lose some more, and it is dreadful. But these fine people understood the importance of it and were willing to do what had to be done and I, for one, have the greatest respect for these kids that can be mustered. True heroes.
