<Allende began to rule as a dictator>

Allende did not suspend the Rule Of Law, or the constitutional/democratic system. He would have been replaced at the next election, because of his economic failures. (And, BTW, those economic failures were in large part due to our destabilization campaign.) If he had refused to allow a "next election", then your case would be a lot stronger. But this is supposition, since he was not allowed to serve out his first term. You admit we tried and failed at one military coup against the elected government, and that we tried this before the expropriations and "suppressing dissent" and "ignoring the Chilean Congress". So how can you use Allende's actions while in power as an excuse, when the decision to overthrow him by Force, was made (and attempted) before he was in office? And why do you disbelieve our hand in the second (successful) coup attempt, while acknowledging our role in the first (unsuccessful) attempt?
