Great article, Rose Thank you.......I will send it to friends.
That was a good take on what is going on in Seattle, a little overgeneralized in places. But very good.
Overall, the slowdown in Seattle is a positive in my opinion. Those that were here from elsewhere to partake in the goldrush are gone. They took a lot of snotty attitudes with them, and it seems to be a warmer and friendlier place. The traffic is better, and I think we are about to make some strides in mass transit and downtown living. Business might not be as good, but it might be more fun.
This town still has a terrible time making decision, though.
Real estate values have just begun to soften a bit, it will be interesting to watch. You would think that values would drop more, but there is so little developable land around, they may stay up.
I think Seattle will always be right between Vancouver and Portland. I love both of those cities, too.
ps...I ran into a Buddy of mine from college the other day, he lives in Portland. He reminded me of a conversation where I said I was going to leave Seattle, because it was getting too crowded and the traffic was sooo bad. That was 1979...
It's a beautiful Saturday..hope you are enjoying it. scoot |
