Hi all,

I did a little more field research on Tamagotchis and clones last night (I went to the mall). I found 4 knock-offs (I didn't find a single Tamagotchi, Nano Pet or Giga Pet, as I expected), and without exception the knock-offs were all more expensive than any of the three major brands. I don't know how the cheap knock-offs expect to compete with the big guys if they can't compete on price. Maybe on availability? :-) That advantage will only last until the big guys get their production volumes up. Oh, the Rakuraku Dinokun pet I noticed in a Hallmark store looks like it hasn't sold at all (at $19.95). I think kids want "the real thing."

Any other opinions or research?

Kirk
