Ron, after dealing with Cyberloon, I dont know that I can address a rational message, but let my try.
The problem we face at this point is critical. Saddam is a monster on a par with any from the 20th century, and the sooner he is dead, or at least out of power, the better for everyone, especially the Iraqi people. If that is the only thing we cared about, our situation would not be so bad. But we also profess a desire and intention to "nation-build" for lack a better phrase, to democratize Iraq like we did Germany and Japan after WWII. If we end up killing hundreds of thousands or Iraqis to get rid of Saddam, their relatives and others may be a bit skeptical, at the very least, about our magniminity.
Now maybe there is a way of surgically removing Saddam and all of his miserable cronies and supporters without killing hundreds of thousands of others, and perhaps thousands of our own soldiers, but I havent heard it yet. Frankly, I hope I am wrong, buy thanks to the Arab television and other Arab press, the end result of all of our efforts may be to create lots of other young folks who hate us much more than they love their own lives. Again, I hope I am proven wrong about all of this. |
