You don't think that people get fearful when they know another country can come in and take over?

I'm sure you've seen the following quote from Powell:

"We have gone forth from our shores repeatedly over the last hundred years and we’ve done this as recently as the last year in Afghanistan and put wonderful young men and women at risk, many of whom have lost their lives, and we have asked for nothing except enough ground to bury them in, and otherwise we have returned home to seek our own ... lives in peace ..."

They had no reason to fear us until they hit us.

stop trying to make me look like an Iraqi sympathizer

When you begin taking the word of Saddam over the word of DOD, you are an Iraqi sympathizer, in my view. It is just part of the "Blame America First" mentality, and frankly, it gets a little tired.
