The timing is interesting, that this long and sympathetic article about the efforts of more mainstream protestors to distance themselves from the radical organizors of ANSWER (btw, this is the first time I've seen the NYT mention that ANSWER are radicals with strong ties to WWP. Previous mentions were highly sanitized.) comes right on top of the disruptive protests in San Francisco and other places. This article is all about mainstream protestors - but the actual protests do not yet look very mainstreamish, if you know what I mean. The Times seems to be functioning as a publicity organ for the mainstream protestors who are getting more worried about the bad effects the radicals may have on their movement.
