Exactly. In Desert Storm our force was twice as large and yet we spent 6 weeks preparing the battlefield. One reason many Iraqi soldiers surrendered was that we cut off their supplies and they were running short of food and water. Being in that desert with inadequate food and water would destroy anyone's morale.

Try and find out where you first got this idea that it would be over in days and be a cakewalk.

Just about every time somebody from the Bush administration or military opened their mouth. If it was all a "psy-ops" campaign, well then the American government hasn't lied on that scale since Vietnam. What I think is more likely is that the President and the military were dangerously overconfident.
