Hi Shrini, I hate to rain on your parade, but I think the days of AMTX in the 30s or 40s are long gone.

I read the Soundview comments as a pre-emptive strike. It helps ease the pain from the Cisco acquisition. What did it exactly say? The portion on First Call certainly didn't say anything to me.

Speaking of First Call, here is another item on Amati today. This one is from Edison Research.

"The current number of shares short in AMTX is 546,258. This represents a change of (235,345) or (30.11%) from the previous periods amount of 781,603 shares short.

Simply monitoring the amount of short interest can often be misleading. It is more meaningful to analyze the relative level of short interest and then determine whether those shorts have been right or wrong. If the short sellers are wrong, then they can act as additional demand for the stock sending it higher as they scramble to cover their short positions.

AMTX has an overall rank of 9% indicating it as a long squeeze. In a long squeeze, a stock continues to drift down as there are few shorts to cover and natural buyers sell. The level of short selling is at 7%, representing a historical range over the past five years, when available. A minimum of six months history is required to rank the level of short intensity."
