Tom (Jimmy or Guy),

>>My guess is that Iomega is beginning to saturate the first category (i.e., nerds like us). We all own a Zip or two already.... The only ways Iomega can perk this up, as I see it, would be to lower the price or to start offering the internal IDE Zip as an aftermarket item at a good price. (I'd buy two of those in a flash.)<<

While I fit more into your second category, I am VERY curious why Iomega has not yet released the internal IDE Zip for general public consumption yet. The way I see it, this has severely hurt potential sales. Why? Because if I have ONLY to choose the portable models, then that's what I'm gonna do... port it around. However, if the internals were widely available, maybe I (and many others) would buy internals for several machines. It seems to me that if they can/will supply the OEMs, they should be able to supply to the general public.

Anybody have any reasons why Iomega has not put the internals on the shelves?
