Yes, I think the people with opposing views DO feel that way. I think you get that kind of feeling whenever two very diverse premises give rise to diametrically opposed causes of action.

On the one hand you have people who fervently believe Saddam was an imminent threat to the US and the ME; people who believe preemptive war is not a new and dangerous course; people who can square the way we treat some dictators as dandy and some as evil (sometimes the same ones, at different times). On the other hand you have people who equally fervently believe Saddam was not an imminent threat; people who do not like the idea of preemptive war and alienating the international community; people who think that waiting would have been better than war. Both sides can make a good argument, but some people on both sides are totally unable to see that there is some evidence for both sides (of course anyone on any side feels there is more evidence on his or her side- but SOME people can see no evidence that doesn't square with their own thinking. Those people, imo, are the ones who *seem* to be willing to dehumanize and name call people who are just people, but happen to have accepted a different premise. Those people exist on both sides. Those people are dangerous, but in a democracy that is the price you pay. Zealots of all stripes will run free.
