When Al Sharpton ran against a field of Democrats in New York's Senatorial race in 1992, he actually rose above the fray and seemed like the most reasonable candidate as the others degenerated into personal attacks. 60 Minutes even did a piece on how reasonable Al Sharpton seemed during the debates in contrast to the other candidates, who were acting like typical politicians.
