Such tough tactics show an unexpected resolve in Beijing's policy toward Pyongyang, and hint at the nervousness of Chinese leaders about North Korea's nuclear ambitions and North Korea's tensions with the United States.

It would appear the Chinese are finally getting the message that the Bush administration is willing to let the situation escalate unless they step forward and restrain their unruly surrogate.

And that, in my opinion, displays some of the wisdom the Bushites have shown in dealing with a hard-@ss like Kim Jong Il.. You can't let him badger and extort us into complying with his demands.. Especially when we're right and he has violated his treaty obligations.

And you must force other world powers to face their responsibilities.
