(Ed. note: Kenne has been promoted to Lieutenant General and is currently, April 2000, the commander at the Electronic Systems Center, Air Force Materiel Command, Hanscom Air Force Base, Mass.) In 1991, the law excluding women from flying combat aircraft was repealed. There are 21 women now flying as fighter pilots in the Air Force, and 27 in the Navy.
