Three times in the past two days, reporters have asked soldiers on both FOX and MSNBC if they have enough supplies
This is incorrect. We have no idea how many times reporters have asked the question. We only know how many times they answered "no", as these are the repllies that made it to th news.
Oh now, you're being ridiculous. One soldier talking of shortages is one too many. Stop defending incompetence.
Myers explained it perfectly yesterday. It is like a heart pumping blood. The arteries are full, but that doesn't mean that every cell is getting as much blood as it needs. There are no major supply problems; but it is not unusual that some person somewhere along the line would not be getting all the supplies they want.
Now, you'r embarrassing yourself.........there's a reason why they call the supply line 'ambush alley' but I will let you figure that one out on your own.
Now who do you expect me to believe, the soldiers who stomachs need to be filled and their thirsts quenched, or Rummy and Franks
If there were a widespread problem, that would be fine. But a couple of anecdotal reports out of 100k troops really does not a crisis make.
I never said it was a crisis but it is a problem of Rummy's war plan that needs to be dealt with.
rolling deployment" is a euphemism for "we're short troops and we're trying to get as many of them over there as quickly as possible".
These troop deployments have been determined for an extended period of time. Troop deployments involve legal documents that cannot be forged. Importantly, you don't just one day say, "hey, we need you here" for a major deployment. There are tons of issues that have to be dealt with.
The 24th Marine Expeditionary unit's tour of duty was up and it was going home up until 4 days ago. Now its entering Iraq to protect the 350 mile supply line. Is that a coincidence? I don't think so.
I have seen nothing to indicate that the war hasn't unfolded, within reason, according to plan.
Tell it to the troops......they will be happy to hear your unbridled optimism. You might also point out that the Shiites will rise up any day now and depose Saddam according to plans.
