I have little trouble with Pres Bush and his method of ideas, policy, and avenues of delivery....
the remarks of Sec Rumsfeld, whilst blunt, are in my opinion RARELY just off the cuff .... and accurately reflect the outlook of the administration....

Diplomacy is not a strong attribute of our President....
but .... his convictions are solid and firm with little ambiguity .... a position I'd vastly prefer from all heads of state...

Rare is the HoS who meets Pres Bush in person and comes away with ANY doubt that George W is fair man with a stance based on excellent advice..... now, that is not to say that GWB is always right ... BUT, he will be amongst the first to admit it.

The meeting with Putin in Crawford is a good example ....
GW said (and this is NOT a direct quote, but a paraphrase) that he had looked Mr Putin in the eye and could see into his soul ...
to a lot of people that is melodramatic BS ....
to me that IS George W Bush.

I agree with you, the use of TelAviv, rather than Jerusalem, is a telling matter.
AND ... imo ... make no mistake ... the Israelis are in for a steady pressure to accept a separate AND sovereign
state of Palestine ... to change some of the Israeli actions in land/housing/treatment/building in their current tactics .... and that ALONE will pose a large problem for BOTH of these partners .... Israel and USA ..

so ... the comments from Sec Powell last evening *(I watched the entire speech on C-Span) were reflective of the intent of our administration to "start to change things" ..... whilst "keeping on to be friends" ....

Thanks for the post
