The people in charge are sometimes wrong, but they are very rarely stupid. (note: Bush does not qualify as one who is "in charge")

I think the Iranian nuclear threat is a bluff by the zealots intended to create a chasm between american and irani ideaology, which is becoming increasingly secular, and moderate.

If the U.S. succeeds in Iraq (big if) and Iran continues to evolve, I think the Saud family could be in deep sh*t. Though I do wonder about how U.S. big business (and big oil in particular) would feel about this, and how much influence they can muster. I don't see how invading Iran does us any good at all, nor do I see how the neocon mindset could justify it.

Think about this fact. When the U.S. was propping up the Shah, Iranian terrorists abounded. Since the fall of the Shah, how many irani terrorist acts have there been. I believe that the situation is very much the same in S.A. today and we need to be very careful not to wind up in this situation in post-Saddam Iraq.
