I thought of something I would like our country to do. I would like them to go to the UN, and I would like them to say "We blew it. We shouldn't have gone in without you guys. We were arrogant and stupid. On the other hand, we're there now. We apologize to the world- now will you please help us out of this mess? We're a hugely powerful country, but even, and perhaps especially, hugely powerful countries make mistakes. Now what are we going to do about it?"

I think the world would respond. When you are the strongest, biggest kid on the block, sometimes saying you've made a mistake isn't the worst thing you can do- not if you think you might want other kids to play with you.
