No, I think this war is doing something more unique and dangerous, if it goes on for a long period of times.

It has the visual imagery of destruction that is unprecedented, backed by real TV and news media that is magnifying it.

While you are correct in saying that about the policy makers of those ME countries, most of the public are simply not that exposed to the adverse consequences.

Now the people on the street will be transformed on much larger scale then they have been ever before, by the past events.IMHO
