Darleen > The Peace Protesters here are now turning to protests In regards to Iran and Syria. They are attempting to avoid a war they feel is in the making in these countries

Whether now, or later, the gaggle of witches around your president have promised war with Syria and Iran. Protesting for peace has as much chance of influencing these people as the proverbial fart in the wind. They are besotted with themselves, their own importance and their visions. They don't even take the slightest notice of experienced military personnel in the Pentagon and elsewhere who have cautioned about this war. Regrettably, the present US administration is changing and has changed the world, and in a way which will not be advantageous to the US. Yes, the US will probably eventually be able to claim a military victory of some sort but it can never win the war, and certainly not the war for the Iraqis' hearts and minds.

>>>The blunder has happened because ”people like U.S. Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, Vice-President Dick Cheney and Rumsfeld's deputy Paul Wolfowitz have hijacked the U.S. government.”

They have been backed by British Prime Minister Tony Blair because ”he is a great believer in bombing,” Dalyell said. ”He likes the idea of being a great war leader.” <<<

>>>Mr Major said assuming that a Shia-dominated Iraq located next to a mostly-Shia Iran would lead to a moderating influence across the Middle East was a "reckless way to proceed."

Another voice against the current action in Iraq comes from none other that President Bush's father, George Bush Senior.

"We should not march into Baghdad," he wrote in his 1998 book, A World Transformed.

"To occupy Iraq would instantly shatter our coalition, turning the whole Arab world against us and make a broken tyrant into a latter-day Arab hero...assigning young soldiers to a fruitless hunt for a securely entrenched dictator and condemning them to fight in what would be an unwinnable urban guerilla war.

"It could only plunge that part of the world into even greater instability." <<<

Of course, young George knew more than his father. And, if he didn't two weeks ago he certainly knows now.

>It should be mandatory all political candidates in all nations pass pre med it will aid them in recognizing how fragile the human body is.

Nice idea but it has no chance of achieving the stated aims. All med students learn is how important the professor is and consequently how important they are. If you want to teach someone hubris (arrogance) send them to med school and I regret to say there's no shortage of that in the present US administration. Unfortunately, the only way people learn about the value and sanctity of life is when their own life is at risk and that is why, you can be sure, when the soldiers who are there at the moment get back from Iraq, those who do that is, none will ever want to hear the word "war" again.
