You keep seemingly insisting that, because they have no influence on Bush, they have no effect.

Now, now. We were talking about the intent of the protesters to get Bush to stop the war. That there's zero chance of that happening is critical to analyzing that issue. The protesters are wasting their breath accomplishing nothing and, likewise, you're getting worked up over nothing.

As for the protesters giving comfort to Saddam, we disposed of that very early in our colloquy. I agreed that they are of some comfort to Saddam. Perhaps Saddam thinks they will cause Bush to change his mind as you suggest but I doubt it. The most Saddam gets out of it is some propaganda fodder. I don't want to minimize that, only to point out that it will not stop our prosecution of the war.

That the protests and/stopping the business of the country will force Congress to rescind the war authorization and/or impeach Bush.

Pressing for a change of heart is not much of a strategy.
