President Clinton was a fiscal conservative. He was liberal only as regards a few social issues. And even there, when it came to the crunch, he would let the fiscal side win out. E.g. welfare reform. The reason why the greatest stock market scam went unchecked was that pretty much everybody was on the same side of it. Clinton, the Republican congress, in addition to the Fed, the media etc.
