<<nothing short of the actual outcome of the war will settle whether waging it was a good idea>> From all the different attitudes toward history presented here, even the outcome will be measured good by some, evil by others, and even that will change as the years go by. Could get into a lot of philosophical questions- like does man have free will or not, was it Mother natures cold winter or HiItlers mistake that he failed to take Russia. Why does a man so intent on surviving like Saddam, sacrifice so many lives to do that. Is he an Allah- provided challenge to mankind to see how we would handle the situation ? Was it a good thing that the tech bubble broke when it did -to prevent an even worse crash later on? Try to get a black or white answer to that question !. The Corps of Engineers built many dams to control the southern rivers, and that was a "good thing" for over 50 years, but now it is considered a bad thing and they are tearing them out. All too complicated for less than a minister to interpret I generally attempt to look upon various happenings, as being for the best, in the long run. In this case I look upon the fact that a young and vital leader chanced ( it was close) to be in the White House when that 9-11 event occurred. Perhaps it was, and is, Saddams misfortune to have finally met a man who could prevent him from once more ducking under the protective wing of the UN. There are many good things other than a better life for the Iraqis that will come out out of this conflict, and the major one will be the Truth. Who has been selling them arms, who has been the source of horror for the Iraqis for 30 years, who has been lying to them about winning the first 12 days of this conflict, who told them US marines ate babies or killed people to enter the Marine corps, who used their food-for-oil money to buy palaces and munitions?. I dont have clue as to whether the various other Arab Nations in the regions will "like" us better or worse for the outcome of the conflict. Perhaps the Iranian leaders will not like it, but their oppressed citizens might enjoy the results. . With our own country running in the grey, being nearly evenly divided, it is hard to see things as either black or white. We are making a move toward what appears to be a bright white light, leading us out from under a heavy dark cloud of Terrorism that drifted over the continent and shafted us with a mighty bolt of lightning on 9-11-01.. We are doing our best to prepare for the worst, while hoping and planning for the best possible outcome Sig |
