Hey RR!
I had an old friend in town from Austin from last Wednesday
until yesterday. Spent some time catching up with him &
visiting other friends.
We both are deeply affected by the war, so a lot of time
was spent watching the news & discussing it with our
friends. I showed him a few threads on SI. He said that in
Austin, they have a vocal minority that sound precisely
like those folks here on SI. And they won't shut up no
matter what either!?!
He said something I have said to my wife frequently.........
'Where are these folks getting their news? How can they
come to such a diametrically opposed POV if they are
watching & reading essentially the same stuff I am?' And we
both watch CNN, MSNBC & FoxNews as well as the three major
networks.
We visited a bunch of our friends as time permitted. All of
them are supportive of Bush & the need to remove Saddam.
They realize that this is part of the war on terror, that
Saddam is a real & present danger with his WMD programs &
terrorist ties. FWIW, that's not bad considering that I
live in western PA, a very pro-democratic stronghold since
forever.
As for trading, I'm still holding my QQQ shorts from that
swing trade. Sadly, they just turned green again today, so
I'm not going to rake it in on this one. I'll probably
unload them around NAZ 1330 unless there is something that
indicates more down now. I think that earnings season is
going to be tough again, so I see more down before the
market finds a local bottom.
I meant to tell you that my birds did start to come back in
force last week. I have to fill the feeders daily again. No
goldfinch yet though. They will be another couple of weeks.
Got my cardinals & blue jay's too. Got too many grackles
though. And I got all the sparrows, chickadees, etc. that
you can count. Still no red winged blackbirds yet.
