Thomas Sowell gives me a shiver down the spine: jewishworldreview.com

<...Creating mindless followers is one of the most dangerous things that our public schools are doing. Young people who know only how to vent their emotions, and not how to weigh opposing arguments through logic and evidence, are sitting ducks for the next talented demagogue who comes along in some cult or movement, including movements like those that put the Nazis in power in Germany. ... >

Imagine the USA in the hands of a demagogue with the levers of power offered by Homeland Security.

Shiver....

I don't actually think it too far-fetched. The USA population has a compliant, conformist nature, strange though that might seem to Americans who believe implicitly in their vaunted freedom and individuality, which from the outside seems more of a mirage than a reality.

Maybe this is what is behind much of the so-called anti-Americanism rampant in the world. People have a sixth sense for their own position and survival. They get the heebie jeebies when they see what might be a threat to their survival and position. Which is why hordes of people in Hong Kong are wearing masks, although the Sar Wars statistical threat is still very low.

Certainly, there is no clear and present danger from the USA. But with self-preservation pre-emptive actions being fashionable, some people see spooks lurking where others don't. Thomas Sowell voiced it before me!

Time will tell.
