Then there is their toleration for Quebec and all that nonsense. Can you imagine if Congress decreed that all signs, packaging, etc. in the US had to be in both English and French, or more likely English and Spanish? No way.

I wouldn't rule that out for the US. Quebec represents a very large part of the Canadian economy which gives them that leverage. California represents a large part of the US economy and it won't be that long before the Hispanic community becomes the majority. Consider that these past couple of years the Administration has talked about giving amnesty to 1-3 million illegals [numbers vary by audience...if you're talking to the white guys, it's 1 million, if you're addressing the hispanics it's 3 million].

CA has it's vary own auto emission standards. It isn't a far stretch to anticipate the potential of a large Hispanic majority in CA requiring bilingual packaging. They have an ecoonomy that's bigger than most countries. If CA gets it, will the manufacturers have separate packaging for CA then the rest of the states?
