sadly, this is my final day posting on SI, maybe for good
several reasons...
first, my employer has advised me to exit daytime postings
or else be first in line for layoffs this summer
this follows a discussion at my recent November review
second, my AOL does not work at home anymore
some problem with a short circuit in the modem
I have had no home access to internet since last Thursday
notice nothing last weekend? frustrating
in time it will be fixed, but since problems with MSWindows and faults peppering my screen, not too psyched about fixing it anytime soon
can I say "Microsoft sucks" ?
I would rather get a new laptop PC later, like this summer
third, I have been contacted by telephone by a SUIT
he said that my postings are borderline "sedition" on this bulletin board medium
the man identified himself only as "Adam" from NSC
my God, is that National Security Council ???
at first I was abusive, thought it was a joke
then he got stern and warned me
I cannot repeat the warning, actually more like a threat
Bush and Ashcroft have gone way overboard
let me just say it involved other agencies
this whole thing has me very upset, confused, disillusioned
I thought we lived in a free nation
9-11 changed all that
it seems the First Amendment is out the friggin window
this country is going to the dogs
so, outtahere!!!
