More info: The company's primary areas of operations are in the Austin Chalk trend, which tends to produce prolific wells with a short lifespan (5-10 yrs, I think), the AWP Olmos field which has long-lasting wells (20-25 years, as I recall) which don't gush as much gas as the Austin Chalk, and the Minnelusa Sands formation in Wyoming. One reason the stock has been down lately is because a lot of investors have bound SFY and Chesapeake energy at the hip because they've both seen dramatic stock price increases and both do extensive work in the Austin Chalk formation. Well, Chesapeake turned into a short seller's dream due to some drilling failures in the Chalk and some aggressive accounting, and big, uninformed money has steered clear of SFY as a result.

About 90-95% of SFY's production is natural gas, with the rest being oil.
