robert, not only have you not missed anything, you've hit the nail right on the head.

ALYD needs more bodies to be able to increase their capacity to be able to handle more contracts. THIS IS A FACT.

According to Jeff they currently have the capacity to handle about 220 million lines of code in a year. That works out to about 18.33 million lines of code per month, which is among the industry's best.

Now if they have 22 teams and these teams can produce 220 million lines per year, then each team must produce 10 million lines of code per year. That means each team must produce an avg. of about 800,000 lines of code per month.

Now the only question is HOW MANY PEOPLE ON EACH TEAM ???

ALSO KEEP IN MIND THAT TESTING IS THE ISSUE HERE AND PROJECTS GO AS FAST AS TESTING CAN BE COMPLETED, SO IN ESSENCE IT DOESN'T MATTER HOW MUCH ALYD, CSGI, IMRS, IAIC, OR OTHERS CAN RAMP UP CAPACITY, THE QUESTION IS HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE THE CLIENT TO TEST IT.

WITH LESS THAN 35% OF ALL VITAL GOV. SYSTEMS CONVERTED AND ABOUT ONLY ABOUT less than 50% IN THE BUSINESS SECTOR, DO YOU THINK THE Y2K PROBLEM IS GOING TO BE FIXED IN TIME ????

HELL NO!!

IMO - what you will see is less emphasis on testing parameters in hopes of pushing code through as fast as possible. We may also see the first fully automated testing tool created by VIAS and KEA to help increase the capacity of testing code.

For right now, you can only go as fast as you client can test...

Also keep in mind as testing parameters are reduced more errors will be generated which will keep all these year 2000 companies still busy way past Jan. 1, 2000.
