The Hon. Denis Coderre Coderre.D@parl.gc.ca Sir, Regarding the article “Helen Ann Dougherty “ in today's Globe and Mail: globeandmail.ca. The cold and pragmatic decision by your office leaves me feeling rather ill. This decision is purely political and offers no regard to the individual and her family. “Despite her illness, and a family history that includes losing her parents and brother in the Holocaust, a letter from Immigration Canada says there are "insufficient humanitarian and compassionate grounds" to approve her application for permanent status.” This is not acceptable Mr. Coderre. This person has the financial where-with-all to support herself. She is a Holocaust survivor as is her sisters. I ask you to please explain to the Canadian public, just what the official definition of humanitarian and compassionate grounds is? Reuniting families is within your within your mandate. Reverse your office’s decision and start reuniting.
