I think this admin has done as much or more against free markets than the last administration (don't get me wrong -- I was not a fan of Clinton) -- it is a question of oppty. The populace at large has bought so many supposedly "necessary evils" since 9/11 it is sickening -- how many of the J6P's out there do you think would complain if the knew the US govt were intervening in the financial markets -- my guess is that there would be a huge majority giving it the thumbs up -- so it goes. Did you see what Chicago's Mayor did? Isn't that the epitomy of the new statist mentality -- as a people we have never been more ignorant of what makes for freedom -- but we do know to a "t" what we'd like for the government to do for us specifically. Like Mises wrote -- over the long run there is no such thing as an unpopular government -- we get what we deserve.
