... dozens of others could be found on a search ... it was a great fun time, hugely time-consuming, i almost got divorced over it, received an ultimatum one fine spring day after about a week of ten-hour days on the net [not kidding] ..... anyway, Doktor Watson was very much part of this, and in putting up satire on net pages he, along with TLC and Mr B would often play upon the myth of the Naked Canadian Shorters who were so often accused by the touts and True Believers of these scams to be the cause of their demises .... when in reality, of course, these doofi were involving themselves with crap to begin with
So it is to that whole thing the canatout.com refers .... nothing else at all, imho .... canucks were over-represented among the vigilantes of the day, above what you'd expect on a per-capita basis, i'm sure we were more that ten per cent of those involved .... and, sadly, more than a few canucks were among the crapstock touts, as well .... a lot of the old vigilantes are now on ihub, Bob Z who owns ihub used to be admin here right through the peak of that time .... there are no wider meanings to the canuck references
I know what you mean about the comic book attitudes ..... but consider the possibility of another layer of understanding them - there you were being indoctrinated by them in your formative years, yet you carry now your current attitudes ..... so could it be that in presenting relationships between cultures in the way they did, that they were in fact parodying the old attitudes, and promoting more objective understanding? .... whether by accident or by design .... i do suspect by design, from dim recollection - these were comic books, remember, not texts purporting to be gospel truth .... and no matter the thoughts of their creators, there is always the Law Of Unintended Consequences to consider ....
