Democracy will not happen, even if they want it, imo. They simply don't have the literacy infrastructure and the comfort with the ideas of that type of government, to support it. You can probably have a country that runs with rigged elections, and you can all it a democracy, but it won't be one. Is the pretense to democracy better than what they have now? That will depend on who they get in the future, and whether it lasts, and whether Islamic fundamentalists take over the country. With such a young population, they will be easily swayed to the emotional appeal of Islamic fundamentalism- teenagers are very susceptible to dreams of glory coupled with religious fervor.
