More Silly Valley whining, Liz? Bush didn't create the downturn, the bubble did. And Bush didn't create the deficit, a lack of spending discipline while things were good, followed by a drying up of tax revenues from the end of the bubble did that. Bush it trying to fight a war on terrorism AND stimulate the economy - that's going to contribute to deficits. What don't you get? Do you think he should raise taxes and cut spending? Maybe he should get AG to raise the Fed Funds rate, too. Would that make you stop whining?

As far as the tide turning, it has clearly turned on Saddam and once he is washed away, there will be a tidal wave of support for Bush and a resurgent economy that will carry him to reelection by a landslide.
