Some talking head on TV this evening said that the French are shocked by our reaction, and don't take it seriously, because they believe that they, too, have a special relationship with the Americans, just like the Brits. As if. As for Germany - I just don't feel the same hostility as I do to the French. This year is the 300 year anniversary of the Louisiana Purchase. I wanted to go to the ceremony but they invited various French dignitaries before all this, and if they don't disinvite them, I will be torn. I am proud to be from Louisiana but not proud of the French.
