It may be that you misunderstand the meaning of faith. Faith is simply trusting a person's words and deeds Is it, then, synonymous to "naivete"? Reading the Gospels carefully, with an honest and open heart and mind, will reveal that these men were sober and serious minded men who were writing historical realities and not invented myths I have always wondered why these "accounts" were not written within Jesus' lifetime? Why, exactly, did they wait 30-40 years for memory to fade, to put those "historical realities" to paper? When an individual approaches these eyewitness historical New Testament documents with an open heart and mind, the historical reality is merged with the spiritual reality and faith (trust) is born in the heart. With all due respect, I do not understand how and why a person can be asked to "approach" a book in a different state of heart and mind than with any other. Why is this suspension of disbelief ("open heart & mind") necessary?
