At last I find an honest NeoCon...and he is Canadian!

The interesting thing is that after he came out and said these, the rest of the pro-war camp just said, "well yes, but our political system does not let us to be honest and come right out". In other words, all this moral high ground chest pounding is a marketing strategy.

On a related note, I think Iraqis will be happy to be free of Saddam. So in that sense US is the liberating army, even though that is not the goal (as stated above). But, what US seems to under-estimate is the pent up level of anger for the sanctions (among other reasons). The biggest opposition group to Saddam has been the Islamists. Having fought Saddam for most of their lives, they are not just going to let US walk in and install whoever it wants. So expect problems in about 6 months after fall of Baghdad.

Zonder: I look forward to less arguments that start (and end) with "But he is evil" or "But he killed Kurds 12 years ago!" and more "Invading Iraq now is better than all alternatives because....".
