Sorry, sometimes it isn't worth the effort to explain the details.

I am a not a democrat or a republican, but a realist. If you need to feel "good" about what we are doing, and as such need to buy into the current bout of jingoistic blather about liberty and freedom, so be it. My mind needs no further justification that the simple fact that it is in our best interest to have a stronghold in the middle east outside of Israel.

The house of Saud will not last forever, and some of the higher-ups are beginning to think (if not say aloud) that the end is drawing near for their reign.

There are many reasons to go into Iraq. Oil is one. The fact that Saddam is a loon is another. But all this posturing about him being a viable threat to the US, or being involved in 9-11 is a load of crap.

If the Saud family falls, the consequences to the U.S. and the world economy could be devasting. For one, they supply 25% of American oil on any given day, and as a processing center, are responsible for more than that. They (the family) also happen to have enough money tied up in the US financial system to cause us serious problems. If the Saud's go under and the fundies take control there, we could very well find ourselves up shit creek without a paddle, or a backup plan.

For this reason, alone, I think the Iraq war is justified. I'm also glad that he makes himself such an easy target by being a nutjob dictator. However, I find it amusing that simple minds like your own are so easily played upon. All of you get so intoxicated on pride, righteousness, and nationalism, that you blind yourself to the truth of the situation, which is always far more mundane, and nearly always about one thing - money.

Of course, this is exactly what some people count on when they make decisions. Don't fret, you and you ilk serve a much needed purpose in the process. Without you and your kind, it would be very difficult to mobilize public opinion.

baaaaaaaah.
