Nothing good ever comes out of a large committee. Genius is by definition limited to few. So the larger the circle the greater the chances of its dilution. I'd rather have a few idiots draft the resolution so I can see the flaws in it right away.

On a more philosophical level, I am a minimalist. I believe in having few but fundamental principles rather than a manual for solving every problem. My ideas on leadership are closely described by Lao Tzu. BTW, I was criticized today for being blind to reality out of ideological beliefs. Here are some nuggets from Lao Tzu, and yes I believe in them.

Sun Tzu

Superior leaders get things done with very little motion. They impart instruction not through many words, but through a few deeds. They keep informed about everything but interfere hardly at all. They are catalysts, and though things would not get done as well if they were not there, when they succeed they take no credit. And, because they take no credit, credit never leaves them.

.

I'm their leader, I've got to follow them

.

A leader is best when people barely know he exists, not so good when people obey and acclaim him, worst when they despise him. But of a good leader, who talks little, when his work is done, his aim fulfilled, they will say, 'We did this ourselves.'

.

I have three precious things which I hold fast and prize. The first is gentleness; the second is frugality; the third is humility, which keeps me from putting myself before others. Be gentle and you can be bold; be frugal and you can be liberal; avoid putting yourself before others and you can become a leader among men.

.

Kindness in words creates confidence. Kindness in thinking creates profoundness. Kindness in giving creates love.

.

All difficult things have their origin in that which is easy, and great things in that which is small.
