Looking at the effects and consequence of the presidency is key. People vilify Clinton for sex escapades, ignoring the peace and prosperity. They also ignore the legacy of Reagan: huge deficit, waste in defense contracting (remember the $10K toilet seats), Iran-Contra (why isn't Ollie North in jail?), S&L crisis. That deficit finally showed it's weigh in Bush 41's reign, resulting in the inevitable recession.

Reagan was a great television personality, but was mediocre *at best* as president. So, the definition of 'superb' is now 'glib'?
